The independent auditor appointed by the Department of Telecom (DoT) to review the accounting books of Idea cellular gave a clean chit to the company barring an additional liability of Rs 75 crore.
The auditor has not found discrepancy in the company's accounts in practically all the 20 questions raised by the DoT.
“The special audit report on Idea Cellular has reported no discrepancy. Indeed it could not have. There are tabulations of some amounts, presumably for data collection as required by the DoT. Such heads of accounts were treated a) in line with mandated accounting standards, b) strictly as per TDSAT rulings and also c) the view of the special auditor is not to the contrary,” said Mr Sanjeev Aga, Managing Director, Idea Cellular.
The DoT had appointed the special auditors to check if the integrated players were using differential licence fee rates to under pay the Government. |
