TT Correspondent |  Mumbai |  04 Jun 2010

Diagnostic and Patient Monitoring Device provider, Maestros Mediline Systems Ltd. in business association with Vodafone Essar and Research in Motion (RIM) launched a mobile ECG (electrocardiogram) application, eUNO R10 for BlackBerry smartphones.

The application allows the user to access patient’s ECG and heart performance reports on their BlackBerry phones.

Mumbai’s Nanavati Hospital is the first hospital to adopt the eUNO R 10 application.

According to Dr. Pavan Kumar, Head of Telemedicine Department, Nanavati Hospital, “A heart attack is a life-threatening event. Knowing the symptoms of heart attack and seeking immediate medical attention is essential to prevent death, while appropriate treatment instituted within the first hour – the golden hour – can limit the damage to the heart. eUNO R10 mobile ECG application on the BlackBerry platform from Vodafone helps us to respond quickly, and hence is a welcome relief for doctors and patients alike.”

Dr. Krishnakumar Menon, Managing Director, Maestros Mediline Systems Limited said, “At Maestros we believe in offering innovative technology solutions to help bridge the gap between doctors and patients. We are pleased to offer eUNO R10 mobile ECG solution on BlackBerry smartphones, which will help cardiologists offer medical treatment efficiently irrespective of where they are.”

Kumar Ramanathan, Chief Marketing Officer, Vodafone Essar said, “The launch of the mobile ECG solution is a reflection of our commitment and ability to automate high-end work processes so that organizations and people stay connected wherever they are, whenever they want. The success of any telemedicine solution depends on robust mobile network and seamless connectivity, which we provide via our pan-India network. We are particularly pleased with this joint initiative because it utilises technology to enable the improvement of healthcare.”

Frenny Bawa, Managing Director of India, Research In Motion, added “Mobile technologies are playing an increasingly useful role in the healthcare industry and we are very pleased that Maestros Mediline Systems and Dr. Pavan Kumar have developed this innovative application, which leverages the many advantages of the BlackBerry platform.”
