Race for phablets heats up, after Micromax Lava unveils Iris 501

It seems as if domestic handset player like Micromax and Lava and are fighting it out for the market space in a fierce competition. All with 5 inch screen.
 
Lava International has launched the phone-cum-tablet segment with Iris 501. The devive is priced at priced at R9,999. And comes with a large 5-inch display a display resolution of 800 x 480 and runs Android 4.0 (Ice cream Sandwich) instead of the latest Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean).

Users can avail of Lava Iris 501 preloaded apps, such as Saavn, Fusion, and Hike along with high-end games, naming Asphalt and Shark Dash and can  download various other business and utility applications from Lava’s own App store in addition to Google’s Play store. It also offers free music and video content and access to an exclusive customised WAP portal for additional content in collaboration with  Hungama.

Lava offer its users Yet, the Iris is perhaps best defined by its stunning 5-inch screen with a display resolution of 800 x 480. Its large display is ideal for watching videos, browsing the internet and accessing social networking websites such as Facebook or Twitter. The phone has a smooth TFT LCD capacitive multi touch display. Even with its slim 10.5 mm design, the phone comes with a 2,300 mAh battery, which will give users an extended battery life. Micromax recently  launched Canvas HD (A116) a phablet which will for sale in February. The device is priced at Rs. 15,000. The phone comes with a quad-core processor and it runs Android Jelly Bean.

The phone also has a 5-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 1280x720 pixels. The phone comes with a 2,100 mAh battery.

The phone has an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, 4X zoom and autofocus. The internal memory is 4GB and it can be expanded by 32GB, using a microSD card.

Micromax which has used MediaTek’s quad-core MT6589 smartphone platform in the phones has become the first company in India to deploy this chipset
