Asus launches PadFone mini smartphone-tablet hybrid in India for Rs 15999

ASUS, on Monday announced the PadFone mini smartphone – tablet in the Indian market for Rs. 15,999. It is a dual-SIM device and will be available in Black, Blue, Red, White and Yellow.

“Today’s introduction of PadFone Mini marks further extension of the PadFone series which expands our users’ world where they will enjoy, achieve and save categorically. It is an alluring proof to substantiate our prime focus on the bringing incredible. We are assertive that PadFone Mini will touch customers’ heart and take us a step ahead to deliver what our brand promises,” said Peter Chang, Regional Head - South Asia & Country Manager – System Business Group - ASUS India.

Asus PadFone Mini features a 4 inch WVGA IPS+ display with 480 x 800 pixel resolution. Asus PadFone mini tablet sizes 7 inch WXGA IPS+ display with 1280 x 800 pixel resolution. It is powered by a 1.6GHz dual core Intel Atom Z2560 processor with 1GB RAM.

It runs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS that is upgradeable to Android KitKat OS along with Asus' ZenUI. It comes with an 8 megapixels rear camera and a 2 megapixels front camera. It houses 8 GB internal memory that is expandable up to 64GB using memory storage. The smartphone has a 1170 mAh battery and the tablet offers a additional 2100 mAh non-removable battery, a total of 3270 mAh battery.

For connectivity it includes - GPRS/ EDGE, HSPA+, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.0, and Micro-USB. The dimensions of the phone are 124.42x61.44x11.2mm, while the tablet measures 199.85x119.43x13.91mm. The phone weighs in at 116 grams, while the tablet dock weighs 260 grams.

ASUS has also added enhanced Android apps to PadFone mini, so users are able to make the most of the convergent device’s vast array of features. With the email app, for example, ASUS has added the ability to read messages by thread — making it much easier to keep track of conversations. In the web browser, Smart Reader Mode automatically adjusts the background tone to reduce eye-strain, while ASUS Collage lets users create engaging photo stories that can be easily shared online.
