5-inch, Qaud-core, dual-SIM Panasonic P51 launched at Rs. 26,990
TT Correspondent |  |  17 May 2013

Here is one more competitor in Quad-core smartphones segment in India. Panasonic on Thursday launched its 5-inch, dual-SIM, Quad-core P51 for Indian market. The device priced at Rs. 26,990 may be a good competitor to many brands such as recently launched HTC One and Galaxy S 3.

Micromax, Karbonn and others have recently come out with devices with Quad-core processors which have been instant hit. This may finally set up a fight between chipset makers MediaTek and Qualcomm in Indian market.

The company seems to have long-term strategy for the Indian market as is evident from the fact that it is going to invest Rs 200 crore over the next year with an eye on 8% share of the Indian smartphone market initially.

Daizo Ito, president, Panasonic India said, “We are confident that our product will provide the Indian consumer a great multimedia experience and the 'best value for money' proposition."

Panasonic P51 comes with IPS display with 1280x720p resolution and 295ppi pixel density. It weighs 135.0 and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) and is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core CPU. It has 1GB RAM and 4GB onboard storage with microSD card support up to 32GB.

The device is 2G, 3G enabled and has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and microUSB as connectivity options. It has an 8MP autofocus camera with LED flash and a 1.3MP HD unit is used in the front. It will be available in white and black colours.

For the distribution, marketing and care support Panasonic has selected Jaina Marketing.
