How Micromax and Xiaomi gain is Samsung's loss in Indian market

Last week, Counterpoint Research claimed that Micromax has outsold Samsung in the Indian mobile market. Micromax cornered a 16.6% share by sales between April and June whereas Samsung which mustered only 14.4%. The main reason behind Micromax offer low cost smartphone with high end features for the Indian market which attracts lots of youth specially which prefer high end smartphone in manageable budget which Micromax successfully manage for the Indian youth and gain popularity and profit as well.

Micromax has already the tenth largest smartphone brand globally. On the other hand, CyberMedia Research (CMR) said that though Samsung was still the leader, which means Samsung is still holding on to its perch as the top smartphone brand in India. However, Indian companies like Micromax, Lava and Karbonn as well as new Chinese entrants like Xiaomi and Gionee have been posing a tough challenge with the offer of more features at a lesser price.

The Online E-commerce business also pushed a lot for the growth of these local brands like Micromax and in the recent times Xiaomi, which has now become the largest demanding smartphone on E-commerce portal like FlipKart, which is also earning a huge profit without setting their brand stores like Samsung in India.

Micromax has captured the Indian market by offering phones at 30% lower prices than the big global brands. The emergence of cheap smartphones has affected the market of feature phones quite significantly. Now, a smartphone is available in the market in the lower prices and most of these phones are now manufactured by Micromax.
