Micromax launches Canvas Silver 5 4G smartphone with 5.1 mm thickness for Rs 17999

Micromax, on Thursday launched the new Canvas Sliver 5 smartphone under its Canvas series. The smartphone is priced at Rs. 17,999 and will be available starting the first week of July. The main attraction of the device is its 5.1 mm thickness and weights 97 grams. It will be available in Gold and Black colour variants.
 
Another highlight of the smartphone is it supports 4G LTE and similar to the Canvas Knight 2, comes with Airtel's Double 4G Data offer that doubles the 4G data amount for any consumer.
 
Micromax Canvas Sliver 5 features a 4.8 inch HD Amoled display with 720 x 1280 pixels resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It is powered by a 64 bit 1.2GHz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor with 2GB RAM. It runs the latest Android 5.0.2 Lollipop operating system and has a single SIM card (Nano-SIM) slot. It comes with 16GB inbuilt storage, but doesn't feature expandable storage support. The device supports 4G/LTE network.
 
Micromax Canvas Sliver 5 sports an 8 megapixel autofocus rear camera with Sony IMX219 CMOS sensor with a 'blue glass filter' and LED flash. It also sports a 5 megapixel front camera. The device is power backed by a 2000 mAh battery, which company claims has improved battery backup. Micromax claims it has maintained "end-to-end" thickness on the handset without any bump.
 
Micromax has also announced "M! On-Site Care", option with which, any customers who face any problems can visit Micromax's website and get a doorstep pickup of the phone, along with a guarantee of either repairs or a replacement within a week. Micromax also revealed that Hugh Jackman will be back on board to promote the new Canvas Sliver 5 smartphone with the first ad expected to show up on television in July.
 
Recently other brands have also launched almost similar devices and some of them has also announced a price cut which rise the competition to this device.
