Online retail portal, Infibeam.com has come up with a new e-reading device named as ‘Pi’ promising to provide a enhanced reading experience supporting most Indian languages with digital rights management.

There are over one lakh digital books to choose from infibeam.com with the number to be increase soon. Users can also uload their own content from PC or other device by using the USB port.
“The idea of Pi has been with us for the past two-years and a lot of R&D effort has gone in the same. We are proud to have created India’s first-ever reading device. Pi should not be seen just as a device but has great socio-economic ramifications, just imagine a doctor consulting his latest medical journal on the fly, or a lawyer looking at the latest case laws or even students having access to his text book in less than a 180 gm device. We can look at many such applications that have the potential to redefine how Indians view and look at content,” says Vishal Mehta, founder and CEO, infibeam.com.
“We are in talks with publishers and content owners across segments to give our customers access to the best in breed content and we are looking at content dissemination for specific verticals like healthcare, law, education etc,” he adds.
The device weighs 180 gm, les than 10 mm thick, can store up to 350 book with the number expandable up to 2,000 books. The battery lasts for 4 days or 10,000 refreshers.
