MakeMyTrip-OkTataByeBye bag NAVTEQ award for LBS application

MakeMyTrip and OkTataByeBye tie-up’s ‘Shout Out’ which a location-based mobile travel application bagged the People’s Choice Award at the NAVTEQ Global LBS challenge held in Singapore. 

 

The tie-up claimed that there were 13 applications in total for nomination and the final decision was made by 400 voters who viewed the demonstration of these players.

 

Speaking about this achievement, Mr. Sachin Bhatia, Co-Founder, MakeMyTrip/ Founder, OkTataByeBye, said, “We are very happy to have represented India in NAVTEQ’s prestigious Global LBS Challenge which recognizes and honors developer talent across the world. With over 38% of the applications that advanced to the final judging in APAC originating from India, we are also very proud to receive this endorsement from users. The team from MakeMyTrip and OkTataByeBye did a fantastic job of showcasing their Shout Out! application, engaging with the CommunicAsia attendees and getting them excited about LBS. With Shout Out!, mobile users intuitively understand the benefits of location and context features for applications on the go.”

 

The application allows users to discover and share places while on the move enabling them to find, locate and share recommendations about hotels and local attractions in real-time.

 

The application makes use of Java ME Platform using API from deCarta.
