Web portals are on the verge of giving equal if not more importance to the WAP or popularly known as mobile web as well. ESPN’s cricinfo which till now was known as one of the top cricket based content website launches itself on mobile medium with its new mobile website designed specifically for the mobile subscribers.

cricinfo says that the new website hosts a lot many new features as well as improved navigation.

“Our aim has been to create a seamless user experience between the website and the mobile version, so that it feels familiar and friendly. We have a host of new features on our new site including personalised country pages that allow fans direct access to the teams they support; an enhanced live game experience and a unique player search module,” SAYS Anil Nair, Director Mobile, ESPN EMEA.

The new site m.cricinfo.com offers users to have a live game experience with ball-by-ball commentary, scorecard and match bulletins on the same page. Users can filter commentary by wickets, fours and sixes allowing them to revisit these moments.

One of the key components of the new mobile site is the integrated live game experience that lets users follow ESPNcricinfo’s trademark ball-by-ball commentary, check the complete scorecard and read match bulletins all on the same page. The commentary can be filtered by events like Wickets, Fours and Sixes that lets users revisit key moments in the match. With the auto-refresh feature, the Live Scorecard presents the most convenient way to follow the game on the go.

Records, opinions, player search, results search and rankings are some of the other features of the new site.

Online portals are rapidly coming up with their mobile version as well since the addressable market in case of the mobile medium is much larger than those compared for online medium.
