2G: RTL executives contest charges, move HC
TT Correspondent |  |  23 Dec 2011

Three top executives of Reliance Telecom Limited (RTL) on Thursday moved the Delhi High Court challenging the charges of criminal conspiracy and cheating framed against them by the CBI in 2G spectrum allocation case.

The high court would now hear their petition on January 16.

Since the special court’s order is very lengthy, the counsel for these executives-Gautam Doshi, Hari Nair and Surendera Piapara-has been asked to file a synopsis of the charge framing order by Justice V.K. Shali.

Special Judge O.P. Saini on October 24 framed charges of criminal conspiracy and cheating against the Anil Dhirubhai Ambani-owned company and its three executives.

Contesting these charges in the petition these executives said that no incriminating material had been mentioned in the charge sheet or raised by the prosecution during the argument on the charge sheet. The petition also said that charges framed had no basis in law. There was no act or omission attributable to the petitioner that justified the continuation of criminal proceedings, the petition said.
