This is Airtel's second 'break in service' in the Mumbai area - the previous occasion resulting from a fire in the Peninsula Towers at Lower Parel. The latest incident is proof that Airtel has no contigency plans - even for metropolitian cities. The DoT or TRAI needs to look into this. Even on the previous occasion customets of Airtel's special corporate plans (covering data services, office telephones & Blackberrys/personal mobiles) were left incommunicado for around 3 days. Maybe, with this incident customers would have realised that there are risks in putting all their eggs in one basket, ie. depending on just one vendor for all their business/personal telecom requirements.
