DoT sends draft cabinet note on National telecom Policy 2012 for cabinet approval-Report
TT Correspondent |  |  11 May 2012

The Department of Telecommunication (DoT) is believed to have moved the draft Cabinet note on National Telecom Policy, 2012, reports PTI

Quoting a senior telecom ministry official, PTI said "Draft cabinet note on NTP has been sent to cabinet for approval,"

The new telecom policy, which aims at making  country’s telecommunications sector more transparent, relax merger and acquisition norms to encourage consolidation and also give more teeth to sector regulator Trai is likely to  be unveiled by June.

The draft policy also proposes to implement one nation full mobile number portability (MNP) along with providing the telecom industry the status of an infrastructure sector, which will help ease credit flow to companies for funding rollout plans or expansion activities.
