Digi International, Ericsson enable M2M applications in China

Digi International and Ericsson, the world-leading provider of communications technology and services to telecom operators, have announced a collaboration to enable easy access and control of remote devices used in machine-to-machine (M2M) applications throughout China.

In addition to its advanced LTE network, Ericsson’s customers in China will now have access to Digi’s wireless gateways, routers and embedded wireless modules. This combination of outstanding network performance and industry leading wireless hardware can help open new M2M markets throughout China.

“We are growing our M2M network ecosystem and Ericsson is a leading provider of communications technology and services with an established M2M presence in China,” said Frederic Luu, vice president of Asia and EMEA sales and marketing, Digi International. “By collaborating with Ericsson, we are able to broaden our customer base in China. With our wireless gateways, Ericsson customers can enjoy simple, scalable and secure device connectivity.”

Digi and Ericsson have installed a successful power distribution monitoring pilot system for Shandong Power of the State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC). The system will be deployed in five cities across Shandong. The system features the Application Platform V1.0 (DMAP V1.0) as well as a device management system designed by Ericsson that is based on Digi hardware.
