MTS on the lookout for new acquisitions in Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan

Russia-based mobile service provider, MTS is eying new investment opportunities in Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan reports Reuters.  The move is on the lines of the company’s aim to be present in its traditional area of dominance comprising of Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).

MTS is currently present in Armenia, Belarus, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan.  

MTS CEO Mikhil Shamolin said to Reuters that the company did not found it feasible to start new operations in the two countries mentioned as these already had high penetration levels and competition is also intense.
