Chinese resellers revolt against Nokia in Jinan
TT Bureau |  |  15 Jun 2009

Resellers numbering about 40 have resorted to a protest wherein they will not sell Nokia handsets in Jinan of Shandong province. The resellers allege that Nokia is imposing heavy fines on them for selling handsets beyond the agreed areas.

Resellers also allege that Nokia’s managing centre for auditing is a third party which does not provides receipts for the fines collected and this amounts to tax evasion.

Nokia on its part explains that the tax evasion accusations are baseless. It also said that some of the dealers protesting are not even on its distribution network and do not have any contractual relationship or buyer-seller relationship with Nokia.

While Nokia is imposing unfair and heavy fines on Shanghai and Shandong resellers, the company is also helping the Iranian government spy on protesters in Tehran and supress the Iranian people's voices.
