TT Bureau |  |  16 Jun 2009

Nokia unveiled three new phones- XpressMusic 5530, E72 and 3710 fold at the annual Nokia Connection 2009 in Singapore, on Monday.

The new Nokia 5530 XpressMusic, which like the name indicates, is a music phone with touchscreen capabilities.  With a scrolling ''people carousel' that offers direct access to 20 contacts and their latest conversations and media updates, the handset supports GPRS/Edge technology.

Additionally, it boasts of 4GB memory and can be directly connected to the Nokia Music Store, as well as Ovi Share for uploading and sharing media with friends.

Xpressmusic 5530 would start shipping in the third quarter and sell for 199 euros ($280) excluding subsidies and taxes.

Also scheduled for the third quarter is the new E72, an updated version of the E71 business messaging handset.

Unlike its predecessor, E72 offers additional features like an optical navigation key to let users swipe more quickly through menus and emails and a more desktop-like email experience.

E72 is expected sometime later in the third quarter of 2009, at a suggested SIM-free price of €350 (£297).

Lastly, the Nokia 3710 fold is a compact clamshell design weighing 94g and designed to be easy to use, said the company.

The handset has an integrated GPS with Nokia's Maps application for navigation but does not have 3G support.

It is expected to come in the fourth quarter of 2009 and will be charged €140 (£119).
