3Com today announced that it has bagged contract from Chinese search engine player, Sohu to build a next generation data center using 3Com’s H3C data center solutions.
3Com claims that Sohu choose its product after conducting tests of its S12500 Series core switch line and the S5800 Series 10gigabit switch series.
The new data center will have to provide support to 10 billion web pages, a web page update and rating system, high-performance, concurrent access to and from numerous clusters and flexible expansion in years ahead.
Qiuwei, network operation and maintenance director of Sohu said, "H3C''s next-generation data center solution exhibited superior performance, availability and scalability during our field test, and significantly impressed us all. Based on the outstanding results H3C equipment provided, we chose H3C for our data center, and we are confident it will provide exceptional availability of services, readily meet increasing bandwidth requirements and capably support any emerging new services we offer our community members."
According to Sun Dehe, vice president of the H3C network product line, "H3C had a long-term plan in mind when it began developing its next-generation data center solutions for enterprise customers. For example, our unified switching architecture enables users to more easily design future-oriented applications; a characteristic required of Sohu's data center. We believe more customers will adopt H3C next-generation data center solutions to take advantage of this and other technological breakthroughs to maximize the efficiency and performance of their data centers."
