 Twitter may be positioned as social networking medium with the primary aim of enabling users to share thoughts and updates about each other as well other topics. But some firms are using innovative ways to use the medium and promote their products or services.
Computer maker, Dell says it earned $6.5 million revenues using Twitter to sell PCs, accessories and software. This was told by Dell’s VP-Online Unit, Manish Mehta to Bloomberg.
Dell’s followers on Twitter have increased 23% with DellOutlet account having 1.5 million followers. 100 employees send tweets to potential customers in 12 countries.
"It''s a very vibrant channel for us and it's growing aggressively," Mehta told Bloomberg, referring to Twitter. "It's not just our reach and growth that has progressed, it's that it's happening globally." |
