Korea-based LG Electronics is aiming to double its market share in the mobile handset market in India from existing 5 % to 10 % in 2010 while also aiming to triple revenues to Rs 3,000 crore.
"We would like to have 10 per cent market share in 2010 in mobile phone handset segment from the current 5 percent and triple our revenue to Rs 3,000 crore from GSM and open market CDMA handset sales in 2010 from Rs 1,000 crore in 2009, “ LG India Mobile Communications Business head Sudhin Mathur told PTI.
The spokesperson added that the company will spend Rs 300 crore towards strengthening the retail and sales & distribution network as well as marketing initiatives including roping in of brand ambassadors.
The company plans to introduce 40 new models in 2010 in the price range of Rs 1,200 to Rs 40,000. The figures include 10 smartphones with six to be based on Android platform and four on Windows Mobile. |
