France-based Radio Frequency Systems (RFS) has come up with a new hybrid cabling solution aimed at helping Indian operators reduce their operating expenses (opex). The new cabling solutions include a DC-Connector solution as well as dielectric jumper cables.
According to RFS, its RRH hybrid feeder cabling solution allows operators to connect up to three sectors with a single composite optical fiber and power cable with the grounding function incorporated directly in the lightweight aluminum cable, enabling easier and more cost-efficient Remote Radio Head (RRH) deployments.“
The DC-Connector solution enables operators to re-use existing coaxial feeders to carry DC Power to RRH at the tower or roof top.
“These innovative products enable operators to effectively leverage distributed base station architectures where RRHs are installed next to an antenna on a tower or rooftop rather than as part of old-style macro base stations,” says Kuldeep Tikoo, Managing Director of RFS India. “Used individually, or in combination, these products make deployment easier by substantially reducing installation time and costs when deploying existing wireless cell sites to RRH technology. This is especially important in India where deploying new sites may not be economically feasible and operators will probably have to share sites with other players. |
