Roamware launches ‘Cardless ATM’
TT Correspondent |  Mumbai |  18 Jun 2010

Roamware launched ‘Cardless ATM’ solution enabling customers of banks to withdraw cash from an ATM without the use of cash card. The service also comes in handy in case of theft or loss of card.

The services in already in use in Europe when Permanent TSB (PTSB) launched this service in Ireland as part of its mobile banking solution.

“There is great interest in this product from banks around the world,” said Avnish Chauhan, Executive Vice President at Roamware.  “It is particularly of interest in Asia and Africa where banks plan on using it for mobile money purposes, that is to send money to friends and family. This is a cost saving solution that could potentially complement ‘no frills’ bank account offering to underbanked and unbanked communities in developing economies,” added Avnish.

Roamware which was earlier mainly known for its roaming solutions to operators is rapidly increasing its presence in the mobile banking space as well.
