Nokia India on Friday announced that its two new Lumia devices, the large screen Nokia Lumia 1320 and the Nokia Lumia 525- a variant of successful Lumia 520 will start selling in the country in the first half of January 2014.
This follows close on the heels of the launch of Nokia Lumia 1520, the first 6” Lumia smart device and sums up a year that has seen Nokia Lumia grow from strength to strength in the country.
The company said that Nokia Lumia portfolio is gaining momentum in India. “2013 has been a good year for Nokia Lumia in India. We launched 9 new devices in the market this year and clearly, each device has resonated well with consumers. With the launch of the two new in January 2014, we are confident that more and more people will switch to Lumia”,
The Nokia Lumia 525 will be available in gloss orange, white, yellow and matte black and with changeable shells in the first week of January 2014 while the Nokia Lumia 1320 will be available in orange, yellow, white, and black, in India from mid-January 2104”, said P Balaji, Managing Director, Nokia India said.
Globally, spurred by Nokia Lumia, WP has been growing its market share consistently. According to IDC, Q3 2013 has validated that Windows Phone has reported a growth of 156% in Q3 2013 and in the same quarter, Nokia has accounted for 93.2% of all the Windows Phone-powered smartphones. Additionally, momentum in the app ecosystem was seen with 266% increase in monthly downloads, 175% increase in paid app revenue since WP8 launch. More popular apps such as Instagram, My Talking Tom and Temple Run 2 have been already to the portfolio of 175000 apps on Windows Phone Store. |
