M.F. Farooqui becomes new Secretary, Department of Telecom

M.F. Farooqui took charge as new secretary, Department of Telecom (DoT) on Monday. The 1978 batch Indian Administrative Service officer was special Secretary in the Ministry of Environment and Forests. He replaced R Chandrashekhar.

Farooqui holds two post-graduate degrees in Physics Business Administration.

During his career, his postings include that as Principal Secretary, Government of Tamil Nadu in the Industries Department.
 
He has worked as Joint Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs, Union Ministry of Finance. In the mid-nineties he worked as Consul General of India in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. He has also worked as Chief Executive and Member Secretary of Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority
