Nokia Siemens wins 5-year network upgrade contract from Singapore’s MobileOne

Telecom gear maker Nokia Siemens Networks said today that it has bagged a five-year contract from Singapore-based mobile operator, MobileOne (M1) to overhaul its 2G network for inroads of high speed mobile broadband.

 

The move forms a part of network modernization initiative, which will include an upgradation to an all IP network that will build the foundation for Long Term Evolution (LTE) and 4G subsequently.

 

As a part of the deal, Nokia Siemens will deploy its Flexi Base Station and provide network optimization and related maintenance services.

 

The complete modernization of the network is expected to be completed by 2011.
