3Com bags networking contract from Austrian Railways

3Com Corp announced that it has won a tender for Austria’s OBB Group which is the country’s largest rail carrier.

 

The contract involves migrating two thirds of OBB’s LANs for future technologies. 3Com will deploy its 3Com Switch 5500 at main locations and 3Com Office Connect managed switches as well as IntelliJack at smaller locations.

 

“The ÖBB Group now has a sustainable infrastructure for its LAN strategy,” said Ron Sege, president and COO, 3Com.  “In addition, the network is designed to significantly reduce operational costs and significantly increase the performance of the network.”
