Huawei to deploy Bangladesh’s first solar-powered BTS for Grameenphone
TT Bureau |  |  19 Aug 2009

Bangladesh’s Grameenphone has selected Chinese vendor to deploy the country’s first solar-powered base transceiver stations (BTS).

Huawei will now deploy its 4G-ready base station using a solar and diesel generator hybrid power solution with the base stations powered by solar energy without the need for it to be linked to an electricity grid. The diesel generator will serve as a back-up.

Grameenphone is deploying the solar-powered solution because the frequent power disruptions in the country were affecting the operator’s services.
