A Raja admits in Parliament BSNL’s market share halved in last three years
TT Correspondent |  New Delhi |  15 Dec 2009

Union Communications Minister, A Raja on Monday admitted in the Parliament that PSU, BSNL which once assumed position among the top service providers in India, has witnessed a fall in market share from 31% in 2006-07 to 16.7%.

The Minister however attributed the fall to competition and not to any managerial aspects.

"BSNL, being a Central Public Sector Undertaking, has to follow established institutional procedures in its various functions, which is not required in a private company," he said in defense of BSNL.

He said BSNL is now aiming for a revival having divided itself into various business units.
