Etisalat welcomes TRAI’s new recommendations
TT Correspondent |  New Delhi |  17 May 2010

New entrant Etisialt has welcomed regulator TRAI’s new recommendations on spectrum allocation and pricing terming them as pro-consumer, ensuring level playing field and also helping the government increase revenues.

The operator said that the recommendations were a correct policy initiative and fully in accordance with the government policies to bring about more competition. The recommendations will ensure that service providers deploy latest spectral efficient technologies.

It also welcomed the regulator’s push for re-farming of 900 MHz band.

“However, in-spite of progressive recommendations aimed to reduce the inequities as also to increase the government revenue; some of the recommendations will increase cost and may face implementation challenges e.g. to achieve the coverage through rural rollout  in next  one year, that may increase the costs, M&As  and spectrum sharing,” said the company.
