MTNL says will not be able to be MNP ready before March 2010
TT Correspondent |  New Delhi |  02 Dec 2009

MTNL CMD, R S P Sinha said on Monday that the PSU is not in a position to be MNP ready by December 31, 2009 as required by the DoT.

“We will not be able to implement MNP before December 31 due to technical problems. We are looking at implementing it by March 31, 2010,” said the CMD.

This may delay the entry of MNP in the country. MTNL operates in metro cities of Mumbai and New Delhi. MNP is to be implemented in India in metros in phase I from December 31, 2009. But if any player is not ready than it may delay the process as a subscriber willing to migrate to MTNL network will not be able to do so if MTNL is not MNP ready. Also this may restrict MTNL’s subscribers from switching to other network.
