GTL Infrastructure to buy Aircel tower arm, say reports

GTL Infrastructure has emerged as the ultimate buyer of telecom tower arm of mobile operator, Aircel say reports. The deal is in the range of Rs 8,400-Rs 8,500 crore for

Reports say that Aircel will spin off its telecom tower arm having 17,500 towers into a new entity. GTL Infra will pick 51% stake while parent firm, GTL Ltd will pick 30% stake in this new entity. 19% will be bought by holding companies of the promoters.

Post deal, GTL Infra’s telecom tower count will scale past the 32,500 figure

The deal has valued Aircel’s telecom towers at Rs 48 lakh each.

For the deal, Barclays and Citi advised GIL while Nomura, Rothschild and Standard Chartered were advisors to Aircel.
