  Samsung announced the launch of two new CDMA handsets namely Corby TV and Metro TV in India positioned around their mobile video services supporting capability. Apalya Technologies which offers mobile video streaming services named as MimobiTV is partnering Samsung for this initiative.
Announcing the launch, Mr. Ranjit Yadav, Director- Mobile and IT, Samsung India Electronics Pvt. Ltd. stated, “Samsung has always taken the lead in introducing innovative technology products for consumers that have set industry benchmarks. Last year, with the Corby Speed, we introduced users to hi-speed internet connectivity in the CDMA space. Now with the launch of Corby TV and Metro TV, we bring to India the first ever handsets with integrated broadband mobile TV.”
The Corby TV model has a large 2.8” QVGA TFT display, full touch screen functions, supports both EVDO and 3G networks, OMH-enabled, supports 40+ live channels and 10+ content on demand channels. It also has a 2megapixel camera, can save 2000 phone book contacts and 1000 SMS storage capability, supports 8GB Micro SD card.
The model is priced at Rs. 9699.
The Metro TV handset supports mobile broadband of speeds as high as 24 mbps, has a 2” TFT display, has dedicated music keys and is priced at Rs 6,999.
Samsung is offering the handsets as part of bundled offers with Tata Indicom’s Tata Photon Plus services. As part of the bundled offer, customers of these handsets will be provided free mobile TV subscription for 3 months from the date of activation plus 15GB data usage free per month, up to 2 months for Postpaid and 10GB data usage free for 2 months on Prepaid.
Similarly Samsung has also tied up with Reliance Communications under which customers will be offered free Mobile TV Subscription for 2 months from the date of activation plus Up to 15GB data usage free per month, up to 2 months for Postpaid and Up to 10GB data usage free for 1 month on Prepaid.

around 40% to our CDMA volumes this year “states Mr. Yadav. |
