It has a classy and  attractive look with aluminum safety sides across its depth. Memory space is good. And, it's latest 7.1 BlackBerry Operating System is fast and powerful.

Why to avoid:

It lacks with front facing camera and the battery is not too powerful.

Detailed Review

Design:

The BlackBerry Bold 9900 is a good blend of class and perfection. The device when in hand gives great and rich feel. Its classy QWERTY keypad and 2.8 inch TFT LCD capacitive touch screen is fitted strongly with aluminum sides and the designer glossy battery cover is superb. The dimensions of this phone are 115 mm, 66 mm and 10.5 mm in height, width and depth. It weights 130 gm, which is surely an ease to your hand and its corporate look and feel gives edge to rival touch and type phones.

                    

Bold 9900 hold few dedicated keys across its body. The left side has a USB/charging port and a 3.5 mm earjack. On the top is a dedicated Lock key. The right side has volume controls with mute and pause key. And a user customisable convenience key that is generally used for camera is placed below the volume keys panel. And the bottom part of phone is left bare. There is a sensitive touch optical trackpad that helps you navigate through the phone. The curvy sides of the phone are made with rich Aluminum and provide safety to the device.

Interface/OS:

The Bold 9900 runs on BlackBerry 7.1 Operating System. And it works with 1.2 GHz QC processor and 768 MB of RAM to support your operation. The interface is easy and quick responsive.

Features/Applications:

BlackBerry Bold 9900 smartphone comes jam-packed with almost all latest features and applications. One can set up email, download apps, personalise the smartphone and more with this phone. The BlackBerry Bold 9900 comes loaded with all social apps like, Facebook, Twitter, you tube and many more. BlackBerry Messenger Service (BBM), blackberry App world, Maps, Social Feeds with Wi-Fi connectivity gives you all that you can think of in this price range. The browser offers multiple window access and is easy to use. It is available in 5 playful colours, which are Black, Pure white, Pink, Red and Teal Blue. SMS, MMS, Email, Push Email and Instant Messaging are multiple messaging options available for you. The stereo FM radio in-built offers many radio stations and can be played both on headset and speaker mode. Bold 9900 do not miss the other basic features like organizer, document viewer, memo pad, files, calculator, etc. are all inherited in it. The voice calling/dialing, voice notes are some important features you will notice in this phone. Multitasking and swapping applications are fast and easy with its 1.2 GHz QC processor and 768 MB RAM.

                        

Camera:

The BlackBerry Bold 9900 comes with 5 megapixels camera with LED flash light and better picture quality. The image resolution with this 5 megapixels camera is 2592x1944 pixels. The camera gives HD 720 pixels video recording options. The camera features include image stabilization, Geotagging and extended depth of field. When tested, the image quality was good and the colours came rich and clear on outdoor shoots and the indoor photos were comparatively poor in quality. The big disadvantage in this phone and price range is that it lacks with front facing camera.

                                                      

Memory:

BlackBerry Bold 9900 comes with 8GB of in-built memory space and 768 MB RAM. One can extend the memory by up to 32 GB using the micro uSD card. The memory space is more than enough with this processor and RAM.

Audio/Video:

The Bold 9900 gives you awesome sound quality both on headset and loud speaker. When tested, the call quality was superb and even my voice to the caller was sharp and clear. The video quality is superb and it supports various video formats like, mp4, .m4a, .3gp, .m4v, .avi, .asf and .wmv. The video quality of Bold 9900 is better and clear. The music player supports mp4, .m4a, .3gp, .m4v, .avi, .asf, .wma, .mp3, .flac, .ogg, .aac, .amr, .wav and .mid audio formats.

Battery:

BlackBerry Bold 9900 comes with 1230 mAh Li-Ion battery which performs long and durable with this device. When tested, battery delivered up to 6 hours of talk time on 2G and 5 hours on 3G. The Stand By time on 2G is up to 10 days and up to 9 days on 3G. The music playback time is up to 28 hours with headset usage.

Conclusion:

The BlackBerry Bold 9900 is an elegant phone with simple design and safety measures. The BBM service offers great performance as always. Instant Messaging, BlackBerry App world and many such applications have done justice to this bold series phone. But, with no front camera and less powerful battery it can give you bitter taste. We give this phone 4 star rating.
